We’re Shane and Desiree, the husband and wife duo behind The Joy Collective. The heart behind what we do is simple: to share the love and joy of Jesus in a way that feels authentic and meaningful. Whether it’s through a conversation over coffee, capturing one of life’s most important moments, or simply being present in the everyday, we believe in creating spaces where people feel truly seen and valued. Our goal is to help you experience a joy that’s grounded, real, and lasting—something that lingers long after the moment has passed. We want you to walk away from every experience with us feeling uplifted, like you’ve been given a glimpse of something deeper and more beautiful than just surface level.
As much as I (Desiree) used to be a total hater of Hinge—like, I actually despised it—I told my friends, “If I ever meet a guy on here that I actually like, please reality check me." And then... I met Shane. Fast forward a bit, and here we are, married, and grossly in love. It still shocks some people when we tell them—especially the church folk. Yes, you can be a Christian and be on a dating app. It’s not, in fact, a sin… LOL.
So, to all the dating app lovers out there—whether you're skeptical or thriving—we support you and are cheering you on! You never know, the love of your life could be just one swipe away.
Shane and I are both proud aunts and uncles to four (soon to be five!) nieces and one nephew, and we absolutely love spending quality time with our family and friends. We’re also big fans of coffee and food (Shane, without a doubt, is the best cook I know). This year, we’ve started diving into our holistic health journey, exploring ways to live more intentionally and mindfully. Our long-term goal is to own a farm, raise our own animals, and embrace a more self-sufficient, simple lifestyle.
I wasn’t sure what to put here—maybe “we love to travel,” or “we’re foodies,” or even “we’re super chill.” But honestly, none of that really captures who we are. The truth is, we’re firm believers that laughter is medicine to the soul. When Shane and I decided to make this whole thing official, we both agreed that life is way too short to take too seriously. (We’re probably the least serious people you’ll meet). Our pastor always says, "Keep laughter in the home" and we’ve taken that advice to heart. Whether it’s Shane cracking everyone up with his infectious humor or me laughing at absolutely anything (seriously, the smallest things can get me), there’s always a good laugh in our house.
So, our goal is to make you laugh. I genuinely hope that the time you spend with us will help you forget about work, the stressful home life, that assignment you’ve been putting off, or the kids running around the house. We just want to remind you how good it feels to laugh, and we hope it fills you up again.
